Macka's Farm is only 3km (up the hill) from the Port Campbell National Park. This is a narrow strip of coastal heathland covering 1750 hectares between Princetown and Peterborough.
From the farm gate:
4km - The stunning Great Ocean Walk begins opposite Glenample Homestead
4km - Clifton, renowned surf-fishing beach, wonderful walks
5km - Gibsons steps famous surfing and fishing beach, beach walks, start of the Twelve Apostles
6km - Twelve Apostles car park and interpretive centre, penguin viewing at sunset
10km - Princetown store and restaurant, down to the river for fishing, swimming and picnics or walk through the sand dunes to the beach. See relics of attempts by pioneers to tame nature for their own needs
10km - Loch Ard Gorge with it's shipwreck intrigue, historic cemetery, mutton bird Island, extensive sealed walking paths, blow hole, isolated beaches
17km - Port Campbell cray fishing boats, cafes & restaurants, patrolled safe surf beach
27km - London Bridge, another great Penguin viewing spot
30km - Golf at Peterborough, delightful coastal course. Also safe swimming etc
10km - Otway Ranges
20km - Moonlight Head for amazing walks and shipwreck artifacts
30km -Melba Gully ancient fern gully for picnics and glow worms
50km - Triplet falls and Tree Top Walk
65km -Apollo Bay
The hinterland is just as fascinating. A whole range of wineries, ice creameries, cheeses known the world over, berries second to none and so-o-o-o much more.
